One of the busiest betting platforms in the iGaming industry, PokerStars, has definitely prepared an engaging schedule for this year’s World Championship of Online Poker whose prize pool is estimated at a whopping $116 million! Since the players of all levels of skill will attend the tournament, the operator is organizing 61 events in as many as 182 different contests.
The WCOOP starts on September 2nd and it will also feature tiered buy-in levels for poker players sporting bankrolls of different sizes. The three tiers will be low, medium, and high whereas buy-in fees will vary from $2.2 to $25,000. This year’s innovative betting system has never been presented to the players, and it will raise their opportunities to eventually participate at the Main Event.
Enormous Prize Pools:
Apart from guaranteed $116 million, the tournament will feature $70 million in WCOOP events alone. Thanks to a diverse program of the famous poker festival, players are going to be blown away by innovations and poker variants such as H.O.R.S.E, said the director of poker innovation and operations, Severin Rasset.
Main Events With Medium And High Tiers:
As previously mentioned, there will be 61 events in total, but the main tourneys will have a buy-in fee of $55 and $1 million in guaranteed prize money. Moreover, the latter will boast a buy-in fee of $5,200 whereby the main prize is set at $10 million! The main events kick off on Sunday, September 16, 2018.
At last year’s WCOOP, a poker player from Malta, Steven van Zadelhoff became the world champion by collecting more than $1.6 million in a fierce race against an army of fellow contenders. He survived the nine-handed final table and held 37,957,931 at the beginning of the final stage. The Main Event had 2,183 entries and the main prize of $10 million was easily surpassed by the end of the tournament, reaching an incredible sum of $11 million USD.
