The Cheyenne and Arapaho tribes in Oklahoma abandon plans to operate an online poker website that provides services to players outside the United States. The tribes launched a ligation against US federal government authorities in the Department of the Interior for blocking the plan.
Last year the tribes and the state government reached a revenue sharing agreement and the project started. Tribe's attorney Richard Grellner filed litigation against the feds in spite of their good intentions, feeling the tribes were not getting a good enough deal.
Incoming Oklahoma governor Eddie Hamilton has been making changes regarding state executives involved in the agreement, including the former Attorney General, who has been replaced. He is apparently the catalyst for the latest developments according to local media reports.
$9 million was spent on the tribe's project so far.
