On April 6, Maurice Hawkins tweeted about how he was going to win two tourneys in the same month. In an incredible turn of events, he did just that by winning two Main Event titles in a row.
Hawkins is now not only the first player to win back-to-back WSOPC Main Event titles in the tournament's 12-year history, but also the third ever player to win three rings in a month.
The first success came when he emerged victorious at Iowa Council Bluffs, after registering for the WSOPC $365 No-Limit Hold'em Monster Stack and eventually defeating 265 entrants to win the $19,477 first prize. Afterwards, he beat 321 entrants in the $1,675 Council Bluffs Main Event and won the $113,152 first prize.
But the history was made when entered the Harrah's Cherokee Main Event where he walked over 1,008 entrants to win the $279,722 first prize and his seventh gold ring.
