The realms of poker and comedy are worlds apart; but, what happens when they collide? Well, you get comedian, Kevin Hart, partnering with PokerStars, of course! Hart has starred in films like, Get Hard, The Wedding Ringer, & Ride Along and is also the star of multiple stand-up comedy performances. What you probably don’t know about him is his long-time interest in the game. Until recently, however, he has played mostly with friends. The partnership will see Hart promoting the PokerStars brand in an effort to reach new audiences, and you can bet there will be a few laughs, as he aims to "make poker fun."
The actor and comedian will play a major role in the marketing, live events, and social media aspects for the brand, to place a promotional focus on the more exciting social characteristics of the classic casino game.
Hart commented, "I'm glad there are all these poker pros here who I can compete with and take their money. But the best thing about poker is that anyone can play it, whether you're making millions like Daniel Negreanu or just sitting around the kitchen table playing for coins."
He recently participated in the Monte Carlo event, on April 27th. However, he did not last long, having been knocked out on the first day. He gave it a second go, buying back in for day 2, but was once again knocked out. The Monte Carlo event did not serve as the first for Hart, as he previously participated in the PokerStars Championship Bahamas back in January, but lost there also.
Vice President of Corporate Communications for Amaya, Eric Hollreiser, added, "We take poker seriously, because that's our business. Kevin Hart makes everything he does fun because that's his business. Kevin is a maverick and we're thrilled to work with him to take poker to new audiences around the world and have a great time doing it."
