Joe McKeehen Takes $7.6M as WSOP 2015 Main Event Winner
Day two of the 2015 World Series of Poker main event started on Monday with Joe McKeehen holding a strong chip lead with 91.3 million and Ofer Zvi Stern of Israel following with 32.5 million. Neil Blumenfield from San Francisco, Max Steinberg from Las Vegas and Joshua Beckley and Thomas Cannuli from New Jersey were still in the game for the $7.6 million top prize but 23-year-old Cannuli was eliminated within just two hands taking $1,426,283 in 6th place. Stern was next to be eliminated taking 5th place and $1,911,423 at the end of day 2 followed by Steinburg in 4th place with $2,615,361. Just McKeehen, Blumenfield and Beckley remained to enter day 3 on Tuesday night with a minimum of $3,398,298 in guaranteed prize money to each player. Patrick Chan, Federico Butteroni and Pierre Neuville were eliminated on day one. Tuesday evening resulted in a proud moment for Joe McKeehen as he became the world champion with a $7,683,346 pay check and a championship bracelet. His strong lead throughout carried him through to the end where he was the last man standing of the November Nine.
