This week saw the end of the main event of the Pokerstars UK and Ireland Poker Tour, where 611 players were bested by Brazilian Nicolau Villa-Lobos who took home a hefty first prize of GBP 101,000.
The large entry field of the GBP770 buy-in event saw numerous aces, including Vladislav Donchev, David Vamplew and James Sykes, all of whom made the final table, where they played against Villa-Lobos, Przemysław Dajer, Chris Derrick, Guido Braye and Christian Bergstrom.
Despite having one of the lowest chip counts at the final table, Villa-Lobos managed to build up his stack and make it into the heads-up, where he encountered Donchev, whom he soon sent home with a comforting runner-up prize of GBP 61,000.
