Alexandre Dreyfus, CEO at Mediarex Sports & Entertainment – GlobalPokerIndex, is making headway with his Global Poker League project having just announced that American poker pro Chris Moneymaker will be the first franchise holder and the debut of HoldemX, which 'connects the world of video games, social/casual poker and eSports'.
The Global Poker League launch is planned for February 25, 2016 in Los Angeles and Dreyfus has high hopes with Moneymaker's association. His franchise will be known as 'Las Vegas Moneymakers' but his team has not yet been announced.
Moneymaker is known for his legendary win at the World Series of Poker Main Event in 2003. As an amateur player he won a seat online.
Dreyfus announced that an additional 11 franchises have been obtained with details to be revealed next week. This will result in a total of 12 that will include the cities of Las Vegas, New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Toronto, Sao Paolo, London, Paris, Prague, Moscow, Hong Kong and Rome.
There will be two conferences including New York, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Toronto, and Sao Paolo in the Americas Conference, and London, Paris, Prague, Moscow, Hong Kong, and Rome in the Eurasia Conference.
The concept of The Global Poker League will see the franchise teams compete and subsequently lead to a Grand Final to be held in a high profile sports arena, which also has yet to be announced.
Dreyfus's goal is to bring poker and eSports together with the introduction of a new game as will be seen with the launch of HoldemX, which will allow players across the globe to compete.
