American poker pro, 29-year-old Chance Kornuth increased his total career live tournament winnings to more than $2.7 million when he won A$790,560 in the A$25,000 buy-in Aussie Millions High Roller event.
The event attracted a field of 122 entries, of which 22 were re-ups, and generated an impressive prize pool of A$2.92 million.
Kornuth's wins surpassed two of his previous wins so far this year at the Aussie Millions where he cashed A$9,415 and A$4,520 and an even more significant win of $192,780 at the PokerStars Caribbean Adventure.
He was nearly eliminated on Day 1 but was able to move up the ranks with bold moves like going all-in in six out of seven hands.
The final table include talented players such as Steve O'Dwyer, Igor Kurganov, Jason Les, Byron Kaverman, Daniel Cates, Eugene Katchalov, Benny Spindler and Dominik Nitsche.
Jason Les took third for A$351,360 leaving Kornuth to enter the heads up round with Russia's Igor Kuganov. They began with fairly even chip stacks but early on Kurganov was ahead but Kornuth eventually gained the lead eliminating the Russian player in second place.
Kurganov played well and his reward was a check for A$541,680. Kornuth claimed the title and the main prize.
