Aliro Diaz outplays a field of 651 entrants
This weekend, the 2012 PokerStars.net Latin American Poker Tour Chile saw its grand finale, with a local players Aliro Diaz besting the field of 651 entrants, and taking home the $76,560 main prize, which was previously diluted by a six-way chop.
In the final table, Diaz encountered chip leader at the time, Sergio Escobar of Colombia on 1,845,000, Felipe Velasquez of Chile (1,840,000) and Nicholas Batt - Colombia, Javier Venegas - Argentina, Halysson Sala - Brazil, Joao Lopes - Brazil, Leonardo Olivares - Chile, and Aliro Diaz.
Through the top six-player chop, Velasquez guaranteed himself $60,000, while the other five players accepted minimum returns each of $40,000.
The heads-up was reserved for Diaz and his countryman Leonardo Olivares, but it took only eight hands for Diaz to take home the winner's cash and the trophy, leaving his opponent with a $66,000 paycheck.
