Phil Ivey Accused of Cheating at Borgata

Poker pro Phil Ivey is yet another legal situation with a land based casino. This time it involves Atlantic City's Borgata.

Ivey and his associate are being accused of taking advantage of a flaw in the cards at a Baccarat table and taking the casino for $9.6 million with $25,000 to $100,000 bets per hand.

Ivey faced something similar in 2012 when he was accused of cheating at Mayfair Club Crockfords in the UK. The case is still pending at this time.

Borgata says that Ivey and his associate used edge sorting to obtain the advantage and violates New Jersey casino gambling regulations.

The problematic cards were created by Gemaco Inc., a Kansas City manufacturer, who has declined to comment at this time. In fact, Borgata senior vice president, Joe Lupo, refused to comment as did Ivey's legal representative.
