Back $1 Million Bounty Tournament

What is your idea of a perfect day?

Does it involve a trip to the beach, visiting a tropical island, or taking a cruise to an exotic port in the Caribbean or South Pacific?

All of them would qualify in my book. But my personal selection -- and my heart quickens as I write this -- would be something BestBet in Jacksonville, FL. is planning for poker players from Sept. 2 to Oct. 11.

BestBet will host a series of bounty tournaments, including a main event where players will make a buy-in of $5,000. Bounties for select players will be $2,500 each and chip leaders at the end of each day will collect $5,000.

The Florida poker room on Monument Road just off Highway 295 is rapidly growing into a favorite stopping place for card players across the southland.

I am planning to play in a $540 satellite tourney this Sunday which will award a guaranteed five $5,000 buy-in to the World Poker Tour event.

BestBet has table games, along with a horse room where you can wager on thoroughbred and harness tracks along with greyhound dog tracks seven days a week.

This particular event is known as the Season X5 World Poker Tour Bounty Scramble. It is one of the most popular tournaments in the South and will attract a big crowd so you had better make your room reservations early.

In addition to daily Texas Hold'em tourneys, BestBet will offer a $240 buy-in mixed tournament of Omaha and seven card stud high-low on Sunday Sept 29 at 3 p.m.

Although I expect to be in Phoenix, AZ., I don't mind making a trip to Florida to compete for all that money that will be floating around.

BestBet has an excellent management team along with good dealers who are respectful of the game and the players. There are hotels in the area that will give you poker room rates if you show them a BestBet players card.

Florida has casinos, poker rooms and casino cruise ships up and down the coast from Jacksonville to Miami. I have played on the cruise ships as well as at the casinos in Hollywood, Ft. Myers, and other locations for years.

If a $5,000 buy-in is too steep for you, try your luck in a $120 satellite tournament that could lead you to a full buy-in for the $1 million main event.

If you prefer cash games to tournaments, no problem. You are guaranteed to find all the action you crave in either arena at BestBet. The cash games offer high hand bonuses running from 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. The size of the high hand payoffs varies depending on the day.
